Explosives company Forcit is building a new factory – Up to 200 jobs

The largest explosives manufacturer in the Nordic countries forci builds an electronics assembly plant in Salo.

The factory manufactures components for high-tech defense systems. The facility does not manufacture or process explosives.

Forcit specializes in the defense industry, for example, in modern anti-tank and sea mines, which have been combined with intelligence brought by electronics, sensors and software.

According to the company, the factory investment will strengthen its ability to meet the growing demand of the defense industry in domestic and international markets.

“In intelligent defense systems, the role of electronics and sensor technology is central. By bringing production and development closer together, we strengthen our competitiveness and our conditions for innovation. This way we will remain a pioneer in our field in the future”, CEO of Forcit Group Joakim Westerlund commented in the announcement.

Construction of the factory has started in the spring of 2026 and it is scheduled to be completed at the beginning of 2027. Production will be increased in stages. The factory would be in full operation by 2029.

The assembly plant is estimated to employ a maximum of around 200 people upon completion. In addition, the factory has indirect employment effects in the area.

According to the company, it is an investment of 10 million euros, which will be implemented with a network of partners.

Big investments

In recent years, Forcit has invested heavily in the defense industry. According to the company, the investments in technology and increasing capacity have been around 100 million euros over the past three years. In the coming years, the total value of the investments will rise to more than 350 million euros.

In its hometown of Hanko, the company is currently investing 70 million euros. In addition, Forcit is building a TNT factory in Noormarkku, Pori, with more than 200 million euros. It is scheduled to be operational in 2028.

The super cycle of the defense industry has accelerated the company’s strong growth.

Last year, the group almost doubled its turnover to 497 million euros. Operating profit more than tripled to 160 million. The group employs more than 800 people.
