This week, along with the State of Play, Sony announced the date and price of the long-announced PlayStation gaming monitor. The 27-inch screen will be released on August 27, 2026 in the US and Japan, with pre-orders open today on the PlayStation Direct site and at Best Buy.
The price is set at $349.99, which puts it in the more affordable segment of the gaming monitor market – especially for the specs it carries.
What does the monitor offer?
It is a 27-inch IPS panel with a QHD resolution of 2560×1440, support for VRR and automatic HDR tone mapping that calibrates itself when connected to PS5 or PS5 Pro. It works up to 120Hz on the console, while on a compatible PC or Mac it can go up to 240Hz. Connectivity is solid – two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4, USB-A and USB-C ports, built-in stereo speakers and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It also supports VESA mounting.
And what does the hook do?
Under the front cover of the monitor, Sony has installed a physical hook – a hook – on which you can hang the DualSense controller while it is charging. That’s it. There is nothing revolutionary here, but the community is divided between those who think that this is a small thing that actually solves the real problem of every gamer – where to put the controller so that it does not lie on the table – and those who claim that this is the only reason why they would buy this particular monitor.
Along with the monitor, Sony also announced the wireless FlexStrike fight stick, which will be released on August 6, and the Pulse Elevate wireless desktop speakers, which will arrive later this year.
