Instagram now also allows you to customize the ‘feed’ algorithm of the Explore section

The social network owned by Meta began deploying the ‘Your algorithm’ tool in January of this year, after presenting it in December 2025, as a new way to “see and control” the topics that drive the recommendations in the Reels section.

With this, users can more easily access content on their topics of interest in short video format, as well as easily configure the amount of content that appears on certain specific topics.

Now, Instagram has announced that it extends this same feature to the Explore section, so users will also be able to customize the ‘feed’ of publications that appear in this section to find topics of interest to them.

This is what the company has detailed in a statement on its blog, where it has clarified that it is an option that allows you to see the topics that Instagram believes are interesting to users and modify them to see “more or less content” about what the user in question wants.

First of all, when accessing ‘Your algorithm’, the social network shows the user’s main interests, after which, it makes it possible to adjust preferences simply by writing the topics that the user wants to see more of or those that they prefer to avoid. This will be directly reflected in the content displayed in the Explore section.

However, Instagram has warned that this is a comprehensive system, so any algorithm changes configured for Reels will also be applied to the Explore section. In addition to all this, users can also share their algorithm’s interests with other users through their stories.

To access the ‘Your algorithm’ configuration, simply click on the icon with two lines with hearts located in the upper right corner of the Explore tab, which will open the management interface.

Likewise, Instagram has remembered that in the Explore section you can also add or delete interests directly from the topic pills that appear at the top of the page, which allows you to investigate topics of interest more easily.

However, the ‘Your algorithm’ function is available globally but exclusively in English. The social network has also announced that, in addition to the Reels and the Explore section, it will be expanded to more aspects of Instagram soon.
