Significant increase in the price of flip phones

Č It seems that Samsung is introducing a clear division in its Fold series this year. Two models hit the market: Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, which is the direct successor of last year’s Fold7 model, and the slightly more affordable, but wider Galaxy Z Fold8.

Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra will start at a price of 2,199 euros for the basic model with 256 GB of memory, which is one hundred euros more than the starting price of the Fold7. For those who want more space, the model with 512 GB will cost 2399 euros, which represents an increase of 180 euros. The most equipped version with one terabyte (1 TB) of storage will reach a price of 2,799 euros, which is 280 euros more than last year. This premium model should bring the most advanced specifications, including a 200 megapixel main camera, a larger 5000 mAh battery with 45 W fast charging and a higher resolution screen.

The second model, the Galaxy Z Fold8, will be positioned as a slightly more affordable option. Its main advantage should be a wider external screen, which corrects one of the sixth complaints of users of previous generations. The starting price for this model with 256 GB memory will be 1999 euros. The version with 512 GB will cost 2199 euros, while the model with 1 TB of storage will cost 2599 euros.

The popular flip phone in “shell” format, Galaxy Z Flip8, will also increase in price. According to leaked information, the model with 256 GB of memory will cost 1,299 euros, which is one hundred euros more than its predecessor. The more powerful version with 512 GB will have a price of 1,499 euros, that is, 180 euros more than the Flip7. The Flip8 is expected to bring a thinner and lighter design, while retaining the 50-megapixel main camera, and it will be powered by the new Exynos 2600 ip.

More expensive and smart watches

The trend of rising prices has not bypassed Samsung’s smart watches either. The most advanced model, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, will be significantly more expensive. The version with LTE connection will cost 749 euros, which is an increase of 50 euros compared to the first generation. However, this increase in price is justified by significant upgrades. Rumors talk about a huge battery with a capacity of 800 mAh (compared to 590 mAh in the predecessor), which could provide up to three days of autonomy. In addition, a new Snapdragon Wear Elite processor is expected for better performance and energy efficiency, as well as a more resistant case with sapphire glass and water resistance up to 10 ATM.

The standard series of watches, the Galaxy Watch9, will also be more expensive. The smaller 40 mm model will cost 409 euros, which is 40 euros more than the Watch8. The larger 44 mm version will have a starting price of 459 euros. If customers also want LTE connectivity on the Watch9 model, they will need to pay an additional 30 euros. These models will represent an incremental upgrade, probably with a new and more efficient Exynos W1000 processor.
