Nothing presents Phone (4b), a more affordable smartphone for everyday use based on performance and durability

Nothing has presented Phone (4b), a ‘smartphone’ developed to offer a solid everyday experience, which includes intelligent functions and the largest battery in a device from the brand to date.

Phone (4b) is a ‘smartphone’ designed to last, which guarantees up to four years of optimal performance after being subjected to more than 95,000 tests in 68 quality control protocols, as Nothing highlighted this Tuesday in its presentation.

It is prepared to withstand up to 600 newtons of bending force and has IP64 certification for resistance to dust and splashes of water.

It is aimed at daily use and for this Nothing has incorporated the highest capacity battery to date in one of its ‘smartphones’, 5,200 mAh, which offers up to 22 hours of YouTube playback and 26 hours of Instagram browsingand has 33W fast wired charging.

In line with the durability of Phone (4b), Nothing’s ‘Safe Cell’ technology protects the battery from impacts, while this element preserves 90 percent of its capacity after 1,200 charge cycles, which, according to the company, is equivalent to approximately three years of daily use.

This device is powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 processorand includes a sixth-generation Qualcomm artificial intelligence engine that accelerates on-device processing for photography, voice recognition, and the full suite of Essential AI tools.

Performance is backed by a 4,400 mm2 vapor chamber which, as detailed by Nothing, keeps the device up to 2ºC cooler during demanding tasks, such as gaming and 4K video recording.

This equipment also incorporates stereo speakers and one 6.77-inch Super AMOLED display with an adaptive refresh rate of 120 Hz, 1,200 nits of outdoor brightness and a peak of 2,000 nits, as well as compatibility with HDR10+.

RECOGNIZABLE DESIGN AND OWN IDENTITY

Nothing has pointed out that, although the Phone (4b) includes the most representative design elements of the Phone (4a) series, such as the Glyph Bar and the unibody body, the result offers a personal identitywith a nod to the transparency of the rest of the brand.

For this, the company has manufactured the main camera module with a transparent polymer, and has opted for a 3D curved edge design on an ecological polycarbonate unibody body, which also features a three-layer coating that offers a pleasant touch and helps prevent fingerprints.

The Glyph Bar features 45 individually controlled miniLEDs and reaches a brightness of up to 3,500 nits, to display notifications, charging progress, recording indicators and custom alerts.

MORE BRIGHTNESS, DETAILS AND PRECISE COLORS

Phone (4b) incorporates a 50MP main camera which combines optical and electronic image stabilization (OIS + EIS), a 360° ambient light sensor and an ultra-wide-angle lens with a 119-degree field of view.

Nothing has incorporated the Ultra XDR technology on this device, which combines 13 RAW frames to deliver brighter highlights, greater detail in shadows, and more accurate colors than conventional HDR.

Likewise, the Phone (4b) records 4K video at 30 FPS and incorporate dual video capturewhich allows simultaneous recording with the front and rear cameras. And it incorporates a series of creative tools, such as Disco and DV filters for photos and videos, Signature Presets, to apply styles instantly, and Playground.

ESSENTIAL AI EXPERIENCE

Phone (4b) works with the ‘software’ Nothing OS 4.1, based on Android 16and includes three years of Android updates and six years of security patches, as well as a pixel-level micro-shift technology that helps prevent AMOLED screen burn-in and extends its lifespan.

At the artificial intelligence level, it includes the experience of Essential AI, with ChatGPT native integration in the interface, clipboard and widgets, along with Google Gemini‘Circle to search’ and ‘Hey, Google’.
