The twelve finalists for the 9th Edition of the Premios PlayStation—awarded to the best independent studio projects from Spain—have been announced by Sony Interactive Entertainment Spain (SIE Spain).

The following games have been shortlisted in the 9th Annual Play Awards: Balam: Bounce Hell from Wickd Games; Barbarian Saga from Dormidinstudio; Mad Cauldron’s Die Daddy Die; Escape From Ithara from LabCat Studios; Howl of Iron from 16 Gears; Khemia from Circonium Studios; NOX from The Buua Studio; Shadow Dimmer from Occurrence Games; Spooky Hat Shop from 22 Studio; Dark Reaper Studio’s The Last Flame;

According to SIE, the videogames, which are still in production, will demonstrate their advancements and innovations throughout October and November. The winning projects will be selected in December by a diverse panel made up of journalists, artists, musicians, developers, and well-known figures in the industry.

Winners of the “Best Game of the Year” category will receive a $10,000 prize from PlayStation Prizes, which will go toward project funding. They will receive a transfer of a space for their development in one of the PlayStation Talents Games Camp locations for ten months, along with guidance from industry experts in artistic matters, marketing, business, development, and publication, as well as the assurance that the game will be published on the PlayStation Store and run a marketing campaign on PlayStation Spain channels.

The winning project’s studio will have access to PlayStation 4 (PS4) and PlayStation 5 (PS5) development kits, and its video game will be released on both systems.
