Ho Chi Minh City established the Center for Industrial Revolution 4.0

The Center for Industrial Revolution 4.0 (C4IR) is a unit that advises and pilots new technologies, thereby proposing the implementation of national industrial policies.

The information was given by Mr. Nguyen Anh Thi, Head of the Management Board of Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park at the conference “Industrial Revolution 4.0 Center is a new driving force for sustainable development”, held on the morning of April 25. The 4.0 Industrial Revolution Center model is part of the cooperation agreement that Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Chairman Phan Van Mai signed with leaders of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos (Switzerland) on January 16.

Accordingly, Ho Chi Minh City and WEF will cooperate to establish C4IR located in Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park. This will be the second center established in Southeast Asia after Malaysia in 2023 and the 19th in the world.

Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Vo Van Hoan said that C4IR, along with the companionship of its founding members who are leading technology enterprises in Vietnam, will take advantage of the knowledge and experience brought by the global C4IR network. Support and propose solutions and policies consistent with national orientation and international trends in technology in the world.

Mr. Hoan said that C4IR’s activities still need to be clarified in terms of organizational structure, operating methods, personnel, operating conditions… This will be a model that can spread nationwide and be exploited. strengths that Vietnam has and take advantage of the support of organizations, experts, and economists around the world, helping to promote the development of businesses and the country.

Ho Chi Minh City leaders said that C4IR located in Ho Chi Minh City Hi-Tech Park is very suitable because it has formed technology ecosystems in line with the trend of the 4th industrial revolution, including the fields of microtechnology. semiconductor circuits, biotechnology, new materials, drones, artificial intelligence, IoT….

He said that C4IR interacting with Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park will become a new driving force to promote sustainable development for the city, creating a spillover effect in the Southeast region and the whole country in the coming time.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Thi said that C4IR will connect to the network of Industrial Revolution 4.0 Centers around the world, serving the goal of applying achievements of the 4.0 Industrial Revolution to promote innovation and create industries. new business for Ho Chi Minh City and the country.

C4IR is a unit under Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, operating under an autonomous mechanism similar to a business. C4IR’s organization operates with three main pillars including: leadership, operations, and support blocks. The leadership team includes a management council with representatives from three parties: Government, businesses and schools. This Council has the participation of large businesses with a leading role and implementation of innovation initiatives in key industries.

The operations division will engage stakeholders in the innovation ecosystem such as research units and experts to pilot new technology products into the market. C4IR founding businesses or units with initiatives contributing to the center will participate as investors. Specifically, when Ho Chi Minh City implemented Resolution 98, it was allowed to pilot drone technology in High-Tech Parks and Software Parks. C4IR will pilot and propose policies for this technology and a number of new technology areas, identify priority areas, seek specific initiatives and form labs for implementation.

The support sector has the role of building the community, implementing knowledge sharing activities, and connecting relevant parties. This is also the unit that provides financial support, human resources, communications, international cooperation… for C4IR.

According to Mr. Thi, the project on the operating model of the Center for Industrial Revolution 4.0 is in the completion stage, concretizing the development roadmap, organizational structure… The project is expected to be submitted to the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City. at the end of May. It is expected that in September, C4IR will launch on the occasion of the Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum event.
