On August 14, 2022, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine published new data on the losses of the Russian army during the hostilities on Ukrainian territory (from February 24, 2022). It is the 172nd day of the war.

The Russian army suffered the greatest losses in the last 24 hours in the battles in the Donetsk direction, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation does not publish reports on losses in Ukraine.

The Russian authorities claim that the Ukrainian side is spreading false information about the losses of Russian troops. International observers say that information about thousands of losses of Russian army personnel in Ukraine is generally correct, although significantly overestimated. At the same time, Western experts question the accuracy of the data on the losses of the Russian army, provided by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and do not trust the information on the losses of the Ukrainian army, published by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

The Office of the President of Ukraine declares the losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the level of 30-50 people per day.

US intelligence assessment: the loss of the Russian army – more than 75 thousand killed and wounded (the wounded are about three times more than those killed), the losses of the Ukrainian army are slightly less.

After the appearance of the HIMARS MLRS in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, there are regular reports of attacks on the headquarters and weapons depots of the Russian army in the deep rear in the east and south of Ukraine.

According to confirmed UN data, more than 5,200 Ukrainian civilians (including over 300 children) have died since February 24. At the same time, the UN emphasizes that we are talking only about verified incidents, and the real numbers are “significantly higher.” Ukrainian authorities say tens of thousands of Ukrainian civilians have died (most of the victims in Mariupol, according to local authorities, more than 20,000), including more than 360 children.
