Snowboard crosser Leon Ulbricht won the overall World Cup in a thrilling season finale. The 21-year-old from SC Rötteln took second place in the last race of the winter in Mont Sainte-Anne, Canada, defending his narrow lead in the overall classification ahead of the Australian Adam Lambert and the Frenchman Aidan Chollet.
For Ulbricht it is the crowning end of a sometimes dramatic season. He was one of the medal candidates at the Winter Olympics in Italy in February, but was eliminated in the quarterfinals after a collision with teammate Martin Nörl that was not his fault. Nörl has also won the overall World Cup twice: in 2022 and 2023.
