A witness to the tragedy in Dvor Veliki Tabor: ‘There was a terrible explosion, people were screaming. We are shaken’

The accident occurred after one cannon failed to fire several times in a row and failed. After that, he fired, and then during the next loading, he suddenly fired once more and hit the man who was loading it at that moment.

– I have no words, I can’t say what happened. He found himself in front of the pipe, and the police will tell how it happened. I’ve been in the club for a long time, we’ve had our company for three years, we don’t remember anything like that, it’s a tragedy that is not remembered in the modern history of the club, there’s not even a record from history.

At the end, he reflected on the future of the carpentry industry after this terrible event.

It is difficult for us, we fear for our societies, because this is the tradition of our Zagorje and we would like it not to be understood as negligence, butć to understand that this was a moment of destiny and we have to go through it – said Pilko.

– We are all in a big shock. This is a great tragedy for a small place like Desinić. It was untimely and God forbid it will ever happen again, said the leader.
