US Supreme Court clears way to overturn conviction of former Donald Trump aide Steve Bannon

The United States Supreme Court this Monday cleared the way for Steve Bannon former advisor to Donald Trump see his contempt conviction revoked.

He was one of the leading voices behind evidence-free accusations that there was fraud in the 2020 election, which Democratic candidate Joe Biden won.

In a separate case, Bannon pleaded guilty last year. of defrauding donors who contributed money to a private project to build a wall on the border between the United States and Mexico, one of Trump’s main campaign promises.

Bannon also faced federal charges over the border wall plan, but received a pardon at the end of the Republican’s first term in the White House.
