At least ten people have died and dozens have been injured this Monday in the center of the Gaza Strip due to clashes with a militia supported by Israel, whose Army has also responded by launching attacks from a military vehicle.
Sources cited by the Palestinian news agency Sanad and the newspaper ‘FilastÃn’, linked to the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), have confirmed this number of victims after an event that took place east of the Al Maghazi displaced persons camp.
A group of militiamen backed by Israel would have tried to break into the camp, leading to clashes with civilians, to which the Israeli Army has acted by launching drone attacks and shooting from a military vehicle.
Subsequently, the militia, led by Shauqui Abu Nasira, has claimed responsibility for the murder of five Hamas members: “Today we carried out an operation to pursue Hamas militiamen in the Al Maghazi camp. The operation was a success: we seized weapons and killed five militiamen,” the militia stated in a video in which it assures that “we will continue along this path until we achieve victory, the liberation of the people and their safe return to their homes.”
The ‘Radea’ unit (deterrence in Arabic) created months ago by Hamas to identify those who collaborate with Israel or assault humanitarian aid trucks entering the Strip, has denounced that “collaborationist gangs opened fire on the civilian population after failing in their attempt to break into homes due to the resistance of the families.”
After that, “occupation planes intervened and bombed the area where the resistance was developing, causing numerous fatalities,” he indicated in a statement in which he warned that “the reckoning is approaching, and the blood of the innocents who faced the collaborationists with their bare torsos will be a curse that will haunt the occupation.”
The Gazan authorities, controlled by Hamas, reported this Monday that 723 people have died and 1,990 have been injured by Israeli attacks despite the ceasefire reached to implement US President Donald Trump’s peace plan for the Palestinian enclave.
In addition, 759 bodies have been recovered in areas from which Israeli troops withdrew, according to this same information from the Gaza Ministry of Health.
Likewise, they have specified that since the beginning of the Israeli offensive in response to the attacks of October 7, 2023 – which left some 1,200 dead and nearly 250 kidnapped in Israel, according to the official balance – 72,302 “martyrs” and 172,090 wounded have been documented, although there are still bodies under the rubble and lying in the streets, so the number could increase.
