The body of a five-year-old girl who died in a flood was found in Dagestan

The death toll as a result of floods in Dagestan has risen to four; the body of a girl was discovered in the Derbent region, the press service of the district administration told Interfax.

“The body of a five-year-old girl was discovered near the village of Mamedkala, Derbent district. The girl is from the village of Velikent. The child was carried away by the current after the water level rose on a section of the federal highway near the village of Mamedkala,” the agency’s interlocutor said.

Heavy rains on March 28 and April 4-5 led to flooding of households, roads, power substations and limited power supply in almost two dozen areas. The authorities of the republic introduced a state of emergency. Almost 3,800 houses were damaged by floods in Makhachkala.
