Ukraine has offered Russia a partial ceasefire for attacks on energy facilities. “If Russia is ready to stop attacks on our energy facilities, we are ready to respond in mirror image,” President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a video message. This proposal has already been sent to Moscow via US mediators. Zelensky had previously discussed new attacks on objects in the Russian hinterland with the high command.
Ukraine has been resisting a Russian invasion for more than four years. For years, Russia has been regularly attacking Ukrainian power plants and substations with missiles and combat drones in order to disrupt the power supply. In return, the Ukrainian military attacked Russian refineries and port facilities with increasing success, especially with drones. According to media reports, Russian export capacities for crude oil have already been severely damaged.
