Israeli Army chief announces plans to continue attacking Lebanon and Iran

The Chief of the General Staff of the Israeli Army, Eyal Zamir, announced this Wednesday that he has approved plans to continue the offensive in Lebanon, where the death toll from Israeli attacks now exceeds 2,100, despite the fact that this Tuesday delegations from the two countries agreed to continue with talks to end the conflict.

“Yesterday we approved the plans for the continuation of the operation, both in Lebanon and in Iran,” he declared during a visit to the 162nd Division of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in southern Lebanon.

Zamir has pointed out that the Israeli Army continues to attack positions of the Shiite party-militia Hezbollah and in this sense has announced that it has “given the order to convert the area from southern Lebanon to Litani into a lethal firing zone for any Hezbollah terrorist”, that is, an area of about 30 kilometers within Lebanese territory.

“We are occupying and clearing key areas and eliminating threats from northern settlements,” he added, before celebrating that “Hezbollah has suffered more than 1,700 casualties since the start of the campaign, which is a serious blow for the terrorist organization.”

The head of the Israeli Army has also highlighted the “serious damage” inflicted on Iran since it launched its offensive alongside the United States: “we have stripped it of its defensive capabilities and weakened it,” he noted.

“Now we must not allow them to make any progress in nuclear matters, in Hormuz or in the other issues on the agenda. We are in a state of maximum alert, the Air Force planes are armed and ready, and the objectives are registered in the systems; we know how to launch a powerful attack immediately,” he assured.
