Hezbollah announced that it was “putting its finger on the trigger” to prevent Israel from violating the 10-day ceasefire with Lebanon.
“Our members still have their fingers on the trigger, because they are always alert to the possibility of the enemy turning on them,” the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah announced today, when mentioning the possibility of retaliation if Israel violates the ceasefire agreement that took effect a day earlier.
Hezbollah, an Iranian-backed force, claims to have carried out “2,184 operations against Israel and its forces in Lebanon” during the conflict.
Israeli officials have not commented on the information.

The 10-day ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel was announced by US President Donald Trump, effective from the afternoon of April 16. However, the Lebanese army later advised people in the southern region to be cautious when returning to their places of residence, accusing Israel of violating the ceasefire agreement and continuing attacks.
At the time the agreement took effect, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it had attacked “more than 380 Hezbollah targets in Lebanon” and was on high alert, ready to continue combat operations.
The ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon is considered an important step in US efforts to end the conflict with Iran. Tehran has repeatedly stated that any agreement with Washington must include a provision to stop fighting in Lebanon.
President Trump expressed hope that the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah “will behave well and properly” during this period. “If they do, it will be a wonderful moment. No more deaths, peace will finally come,” he said.

Hassan Fadlallah, a senior parliamentarian for Hezbollah, said that whether the armed group will comply with the ceasefire will depend on whether Israel commits to ending all forms of hostilities.
Meanwhile, an Israeli security official said the country’s army “has no plans to withdraw troops from southern Lebanon” in any ceasefire agreement.
