Britain calls for the complete resumption of shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz

British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper urged the full resumption of shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, stressing that the vital waterway has not yet returned to normal despite the ceasefire being in effect.

In statements to Reuters on the sidelines of a diplomatic forum in Antalya, Cooper said that the world is going through a “decisive diplomatic moment” in light of the current truce, noting that shipping traffic through the strait is still below its usual levels.

Tehran called for allowing the return of normal flows of maritime trade, stressing that the full resumption of navigation constitutes an essential element in supporting the stability of the global economy.

The British Foreign Secretary stressed the need to transform the ceasefire into a lasting peace, considering that securing this strategic corridor represents an international priority in the next stage.
