A 13-year-old Lebanese girl wrote to an IDF spokeswoman about Hezbollah weapons in her school.

Lebanese social media reports the detention of a 13-year-old girl who wrote to IDF spokesman Colonel Avichai Edraei on Instagram that the terrorist organization Hezbollah was storing weapons in her school, and was detained by Lebanese authorities for questioning. According to the local press, her father was detained along with the girl.

It is reported that the girl is studying at the private school Choueifat National College in the Beirut suburb of Al-Choueifat. Some media outlets claimed that this was a childish prank: supposedly the girl wanted to disrupt classes at school before exams, and that allegedly after her message a drone was spotted in the area of the school.

However, it is emphasized that drone flights in the area, including over the school, are not related to the girl’s report and occur on a regular basis due to the ongoing activity of Hezbollah.

Avichai Edrai also commented on the incident. “Firstly, it seems that the idea that the IDF and Avichai can solve any problem, big or small, is taking root in Lebanon,” he wrote. “Secondly, even if this post was a joke or a childish prank, everyone understands that the presence of weapons of the terrorist organization Hezbollah in schools is a current reality.”

Further, Avichai Edrai appealed to the school administration with a request not to look for the child who contacted him in order to punish him – “your dialogue with the student should be based on sympathy, and not on punishment, perhaps someone is bothering her or putting pressure on her.”

He further appealed to children and youth to tell the truth and the dangers of reporting to their parents and competent authorities – including Hezbollah violations that threaten the future and very lives of Lebanese children.
