UN Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territories Francesca Albanese, speaking at a Palestinian solidarity event in Athens, warned of the danger of the “Israelization of Europe.”
The international official, known for her ties to Hamas and a history of anti-Semitic statements, noted that Israel has been tried by the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court on charges of genocide and crimes against humanity.
“Until there is an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestine, an occupation that violates international law, international legal authorities and UN Security Council resolutions, UN member states should not provide any assistance to Israel,” Albanese said.
“But instead of breaking all ties with Israel, European states continue to arm it, buy spy equipment that strengthens control over society, allows activists to be arrested and destroys basic freedoms. This is the Israeliization of our society,” Anadolu Agency quotes her as saying.
At the same time, the official noted that along with “Israelization” there is also a process of “Palestinization”, however, not so large-scale.
