More than 40 suspects with links to the IRGC detained in Bahrain

The Bahrain Ministry of Internal Affairs announced on Saturday, May 9, the detention of 41 suspects with links to a group controlled by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and sharing the ideology of Wilayat al-Faqih, a state headed by an expert on Sharia law.

According to a ministry statement, intelligence agencies were able to uncover the group’s “main cell” while gathering intelligence and investigating cases of espionage for foreign countries.

Authorities said legal proceedings have been initiated against those detained and investigations are ongoing to identify other individuals involved in the group’s activities.
