The mayor of Kansas who voted despite not being a citizen turned himself in to the authorities

Fox News reports that according to the information in the file, Sabaios was brought to the United States from Mexico by his family when he was only four years old. He grew up as an “American in everything”, integrated into the local community in Kansas and even became a well-known political figure identified as a supporter of the Republican Party. Despite the decades he lived in the country, he never completed the official naturalization process, leaving him with the status of a foreign national without the right to vote.

The Department of Homeland Security issued an official statement following his conviction, emphasizing that this was a serious violation of the law. Sabaios admitted that his vote was illegally spread over three different election systems, and following his admission he was defined as someone who committed election fraud.

For years, President Trump has claimed that many illegal immigrants voted in elections despite their unregulated status. This case proved that Justice Sabaios is a Republican and therefore Trump cannot make political capital out of him.

Now, after he voluntarily turned himself in to the immigration authorities, his future is clouded: the former mayor is facing real danger of deportation to Mexico, a country he has not lived in since he was a toddler.
