MAGA style rescue operation: A senior Trump administration official arranged an urgent visa for the fugitive Polish minister

The unusual step, in which the US administration grants asylum to a politician wanted by a close ally, is causing a wide diplomatic uproar. Ziobrow, the architect of Poland’s controversial legal reform that undermined the rule of law, is facing 26 criminal charges, most notably misusing crime victim assistance fund funds for political purposes, including the purchase of Pegasus spy software that was used against political opponents and journalists.

In the meantime, the 55-year-old fugitive minister had already managed to appear on the broadcast of the conservative Polish television “TV Republika”, where he began working as a commentator. “I’m in the United States,” he declared, “this is the most powerful and democratic country in the world.” The American State Department responded that due to the confidentiality of the visa records, they are unable to provide details about the case.
