Iran points to “economic war” as the main “battlefield” after the “enemy’s military failure”

The president of Iran, Masud Pezeshkian, assured this Wednesday that the “economic war” is the main “battlefield” of the conflict after the “military failure of the enemy”, words with which he alluded to the actions of the United States and Israel, which launched a joint offensive against the Central Asian country at the end of February.

During a meeting with representatives of the private sector, the Iranian president stated that the objective of this economic war is to “end the country’s resilience” and pointed out that the role of companies is to “maintain market stability and the sustainability of the national economy”, an issue that has become “strategic and decisive.”

Furthermore, he has highlighted the Government’s willingness to “reform processes and eliminate exchange, banking, customs and fiscal barriers.” In this sense, he has said he faces “imbalances and structural problems in many areas”, in addition to “external pressures”, among which is war.

Pezeshkian has blamed “political and economic threats,” and has pointed to “issues such as the activation mechanism and sanctions, which further add to the complexity of the situation,” according to a statement from the Presidency.

That is why he regretted that now “the main scenario of confrontation by the enemy is the economy and the livelihood of the population.” “The main burden of this economic war falls on the shoulders of traders, producers and activists in the private sector, and the Government is determined to provide the necessary conditions for the effective and sustainable activity of this sector and remove existing obstacles in the way of economic activities in order to strengthen the economic resilience of the country,” he explained.

“The reason for my presence among economic agents is that I believe that the main battlefield today is economic war; after failing to achieve its objectives in the military field, the enemy has focused on damaging the economic resilience of the country and disrupting the livelihoods of the population,” he stated.
