EU Energy: the Commission responds to Meloni on Wednesday with the European Semester

The President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen “has not yet” responded to the letter sent to her by the Prime Minister Giorgia Meloniin which he asked for the extension of the national safeguard clause to energy in order to be able to deal with the energy crisis triggered by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz with greater margins of maneuver, but “next week we will have the European semesterwhich will be an opportunity to discuss some of the issues raised by President Meloni in her letter”. This was said by Commission spokesperson Balazs Ujvari, during the press briefing in Brussels. The presentation of the spring package of the European Semester, with country-specific recommendations, is on the agenda for next Wednesday, June 3a Bruxelles.
