Mönchengladbach (NRW) – Tragic accident in North Rhine-Westphalia: A 14-year-old died after falling on an e-scooter. The teenager died in hospital on Monday from his serious injuries. The police announced this on Tuesday.
The accident occurred on Monday evening, May 25th, around 7:45 p.m. The 14-year-old was walking and cycling along the shared footpath and cycle path with another young man.
Did he want to avoid a pedestrian?
According to current findings, he lost control of his e-scooter for reasons that are still unclear and crashed into an advertising pillar. According to witness statements, he had previously tried to drive around a pedestrian. It is still being determined whether this evasive maneuver was actually the trigger.
Rescue workers treated the seriously injured teenager on Saturday Accident location. He was then taken to a hospital. Shortly after the accident, the police announced that danger to life could not be ruled out. Now it is clear: the 14-year-old has unfortunately lost the fight for his life.
