The CEC is examining the application to declare the registration of “Strong Armenia” invalid or revoked

At the beginning of the session, CEC Chairman Vahagn Hovakimyan presented Aram Sargsyan’s application. “During the pre-election campaign of the 2026 elections, by the alliance of parties “Strong Armenia” participating in the elections and its affiliated persons, with their permission, encouragement or consent, many actions aimed at the distribution of electoral bribes and the property interests of voters disguised in other ways were allegedly carried out,” the application states.

“Strong Armenia” party denies that it promises and gives electoral bribes to voters.

The “Republic” party requested that the CEC request a report from the Anti-Corruption Committee, the General Prosecutor’s Office and the National Security Service, which will contain information about the persons found in the field of law enforcement within the framework of the Anti-Corruption Committee’s criminal activities. The CEC rejected this petition.

The registration of a party or alliance may be invalidated by the decision of at least 5 members of the Central Election Commission, if it becomes known after the registration that the party’s documents are falsified. The Electoral Code describes what “falsification” means. one example is mentioned – the basis of the party’s convention or governing body not having jurisdiction or not taking the necessary decisions, but only if it has been established by a judicial act. CEC members noticed that the grounds for invalidating the registration are not present in this case.

As for revoking the party’s registration, in this case, the court may revoke the party’s or alliance’s registration if it concludes that the violation was committed or directed by the candidate or the party participating in the elections. In all these cases, the decisions can be appealed only in the administrative court.
