The Thai Prime Minister highly appreciated Vietnam’s investment and business environment

During today’s talks in Hanoi, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul assessed that the two countries’ relations are at the best stage of development ever, with a solid foundation of political trust, dynamic economic cooperation and increasingly close people-to-people exchanges.

Prime Minister Anutin affirmed that Thailand always values ​​and wishes to continue promoting comprehensive and practical cooperation with Vietnam in all fields. He highly appreciated Vietnam’s investment and business environment and hoped the government would continue to support solving difficulties for Thai businesses operating in Vietnam.

Prime Minister Anutin affirmed that he will encourage Thai businesses to expand investment in areas of strength and in accordance with Vietnam’s development orientation. He hopes that Vietnamese businesses will increase investment in Thailand, promoting business connections, supply chains and strategic cooperation projects between the two countries.

The two leaders agreed to effectively deploy the “3 connections” strategy, promoting traffic, logistics, aviation and tourism connections, researching and developing road transport routes and coastal waterways connecting the two countries and the Mekong sub-region.

The two sides effectively promote the Vietnam-Thailand Joint Trade Committee mechanism, limit trade barriers, create favorable conditions for goods to access each other’s markets, and strive to soon achieve the trade turnover target of 25 billion USD and aim for 50 billion USD in a balanced and sustainable direction.

The two countries also agreed to promote the expansion of cooperation in agriculture, ensuring food security and new fields such as science, technology, AI, digital transformation, digital economy, green economy, fair energy transition, and innovation.

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung affirmed that Vietnam always encourages and creates favorable conditions for foreign investors, including Thai ones, to invest and do business in Vietnam.

Vietnam – Thailand will continue to strengthen political trust, promote the effectiveness of existing bilateral cooperation mechanisms, and coordinate closely to effectively implement the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the coming time.

The two countries also agreed to strengthen defense and security cooperation, maintain joint maritime patrols, coordinate the fight against transnational crimes, especially drug trafficking, human trafficking and high-tech crimes, and reaffirm their commitment to not allow any individual or organization to use one country’s territory against the other.

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung thanked the Thai government for its interest in supporting the Vietnamese community in Thailand, creating conditions for preserving and promoting the value of President Ho Chi Minh’s relics as well as the Vietnamese pagoda system in Thailand, and suggested continuing to create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to live, study and work stably.

The two Prime Ministers agreed to continue to coordinate closely in ASEAN and multilateral mechanisms, emphasizing the importance of maintaining solidarity, unity and the central role of ASEAN, promoting ASEAN’s common stance on the East Sea on the basis of international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982).

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung proposed that the two sides coordinate to mobilize resources, strengthen infrastructure connections, trade, investment, water resource management, respond to climate change, digital transformation, green transformation and innovation.

The Thai Prime Minister said that he will continue to coordinate closely to improve the effectiveness of sub-regional cooperation mechanisms, contributing to promoting sustainable development and common prosperity of the Mekong region.

Prime Minister Anutin is on an official visit to Vietnam and attending the third ASEAN Future Forum (AFF) taking place on June 9-10, at the invitation of Prime Minister Le Minh Hung.
