Artificial intelligence: Federal government establishes AI security institute

Numerous countries already have such institutes; in Germany, the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) has previously carried out tasks in this area. An international meeting to standardize AI standards took place in December in the South Korean capital Seoul, at which the BSI was also represented.

Laws on care in times of crisis under scrutiny

The Security Council, headed by Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU), also dealt with the security policy situation in the Near and Middle East. It was also decided to review laws regarding the supply of vital goods and critical infrastructure to the population and the armed forces and to adapt them to the current challenges.

The black-red federal government founded the National Security Council last year in order to be able to react quickly and effectively to crises and threats of all kinds. In addition to members of the federal government and security authorities, representatives of the federal states can also be invited.
