“Take back the future”: Dispute over the youth congress at the TU Berlin

According to the organizers’ account, a lawyer is said to have put pressure on the university and threatened legal action against the congress. The lawyer invoked the requirement of political neutrality. The SDS accuses him of being close to the AfD.

What the Technical University says about it

When asked, a TU spokeswoman said: “The Technical University of Berlin is a place of scientific exchange, critical debate and social debate. We strive to keep party political disputes away from the campus as a whole. In constructive consultation with the student organizers, the program was therefore reviewed and adjusted in individual points.”

The spokeswoman did not say exactly what points were involved. She also did not answer the question of whether a lawyer close to the AfD had threatened the TU with legal action.

1,500 people registered for the congress

The organizers want to inform about the current status of things at a press conference on Friday (12 p.m.). According to information, 1,500 people have registered for the congress.

The Socialist-Democratic Student Association is the student association of the Left Party. The extensive program includes around 90 lectures, focusing on topics such as feminism, fascism, war and conscription. One lecture is entitled “Björn Höcke – Exposing a Fascist”. The “taz” writes that the lecture is one of the program items that is on the scratch list.
