The Thai princess in Jerkyatievathe eldest daughter of the King of Thailand, died at the age of 47 after three and a half years in a coma, the royal palace announced this morning.
As you remember, on December 15, 2022 the princess Collapsed while training her dogs for a national competition, and reportedly passed out, after her lungs, kidneys and heart collapsed, aged just 44. The princess is the eldest daughter of King Maha and Jiralongkorn, and is actually the royal heir to the wealthy Chakri dynasty.
A few days after she collapsed, the media reported that she probably wouldn’t survive much longer, but from then until now, more than three years, she was under close supervision even though it was clear that she wouldn’t wake up.
According to the palace statement, the princess died on Thursday evening after her condition deteriorated due to an intra-abdominal infection, colitis, low blood pressure, arrhythmia and blood clotting problems.
Days of mourning in Thailand
In the past, when the king of Thailand died in 2016, 30 days of mourning were declared in the country, and when the king’s sister died eight years earlier, 100 days of mourning were declared. The events led to the disruption of the tourist vacation in the country, with ceremonies in the centers of the major cities, a ban on playing music and cancellations of parties and celebrations.
Additionally, after the Queen dies in 2025, The Thai government issued instructions that include lowering flags at half-mast in all government offices and government companies for 30 days, a one-year mourning period for all civil servants and public officials, and a call for cooperation from places of recreation and entertainment to reduce or stop entertainment activities for 30 days out of respect for the Queen.
