The son of the Norwegian Crown Princess was sentenced to prison for rape

Hoiby, 29, faces 40 charges, ranging from rape to traffic violations, with a maximum sentence of 16 years in prison in today’s trial in Oslo. The prosecutor recommended a sentence of 7 years and 7 months in prison for this person.

Hoiby was the stepson of Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit before she married Crown Prince Haakon in 2001. According to the prosecutor, one of Hoiby’s rapes occurred in the residence of the Crown Prince of Norway and his wife in 2018.

Hoiby’s lawyer denied the most serious accusations, including rape, and recommended a sentence of 18 months in prison for the crimes his client admitted.

The judge then sentenced Hoiby to four years in prison on two counts of rape and 32 other charges. Hoiby did not appear in court, but watched the sentencing process via online video.

Hoiby’s rape victim, who appeared in the courtroom, burst into tears when the judge read her case.

Norwegian prosecutor Sturla Henriksbo declared Hoiby’s verdict a “victory” for the country’s judicial system, affirming that “no one is above the law”.

During the trials that took place in February and March, Hoiby was exposed for his debauched lifestyle. This person said that he was only known as the son of the Crown Princess, so he always yearned to be recognized.

“And that manifests itself through promiscuous sex, drug and alcohol use,” Hoiby said, adding that pressure from the media turned him into a “monster” as well as “a target of hatred for all of Norway.”

Hoiby’s alleged rapes occurred between 2018 and 2024, following nights of partying in which he used alcohol and drugs. Prosecutors argued that Hoiby engaged in sexual acts while the victims appeared to be asleep or unconscious, and that was why they did not consent.
