The Government of China on Tuesday criticized the bombings launched by Israel against Lebanon following the agreement reached between the United States and Iran and called for “showing restraint, both in words and deeds” to consolidate the ceasefire and achieve a peace agreement in the Middle East.
“We urge relevant parties to act with restraint, both in words and deeds, to uphold the option of peace, to faithfully implement the ceasefire agreements, to achieve a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire, and to foster conditions for peace and stability throughout the Middle East,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said.
Thus, he stressed that Beijing “is very concerned” about the continuation of these Israeli attacks and has stressed that “the sovereignty and security” of Lebanon must be respected, according to the Chinese newspaper ‘Global Times’, after Iran has assured that the ceasefire affects all fronts and has warned the United States of the impact of Israel’s actions.
Pakistan, which has carried out mediation work, announced on Sunday a memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran – confirmed by both parties – to end the open war in the Middle East due to the offensive launched by surprise on February 28 by the United States and Israel against the Asian country.
