A small plane crashed in the middle of a highway in Texas: desperate rescue of the crew, one dead

According to the police report, six people were on board and one of them died. The private aircraft crashed in the city of Laredo shortly after 10 p.m., as confirmed by José Baeza, an investigator with the local Police Department.

For reasons that are being investigated, the private plane crashed in the middle of the Loop 20 highway. The road was closed in both directions.

“Traffic in both directions of the Loop is currently closed near the intersection of Saunders Street and Clark Boulevard. The northbound closure begins at Cuatro Vientos Road, while southbound traffic is detoured and closed at Saunders Street,” they officially reported.

A video posted on the networks showed the outcome of the accident. The plane on its side, set on fire and crashed into one of the highway containment barriers.

Zayra Garza, a beautician, was driving her coworkers home when she encountered the accident. And he began recording video as he approached the scene and then stopped his vehicle in front of the jet, which was on fire.

He saw someone inside trying to break the cabin window to escape. Several people abandoned their vehicles to try to break the window from the outside and rescue the crew members.

Garza’s husband jumped out of his vehicle to help and she then saw the plane door open. He said three people who looked like teenagers ran out, followed by someone who appeared to be a pilot. Another crew member attempted to remove a person who appeared to be unconscious from the plane.

“It seemed like part of a movie. I was in shock,” Garza said. He added: “What worried me was the fire. I was worried it could have exploded at any moment.”

A similar event occurred this Sunday in the state of Missouri, in the central United States, when a small plane used for skydiving crashed and all 12 people on board died.

The crash occurred near Butler Memorial Airport, about 60 miles south of Kansas City, said Dennis Jacobs, director of the Bates County emergency management agency.

After takeoff at 11:30 a.m., the private plane, which was carrying 11 paratroopers and a pilot, turned around for unknown reasons and crashed near a highway, prompting authorities to close both sections of the road, local media reported.

Emergency crews and officials from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) attended the scene, while Fox4, a local television station, said an investigation has been opened to clarify what happened.
