Mette-Marit from Norway undergoes successful lung transplant

The Royal House of Norway announced this Wednesday that the Crown Princess, Mette-Marit, has successfully undergone a lung transplant at the Oslo University Hospital.

As reported by the cardiothoracic surgeon and director of the Heart and Lung Transplant Program at Oslo University Hospital, Arnt Fiane, the lung transplant has been “successful so far” indicating that “everything has evolved favorably so far.”

As reported, following standard practice for recent transplant recipients, Mette-Marit, 52, will remain hospitalized for several more weeks. The intervention occurs after the worsening of the chronic pulmonary fibrosis that he has suffered since 2018.

“This is a routine procedure aimed at adjusting medication, managing any possible complications and carrying out rehabilitation,” the surgeon explained in the statement released by the Nordic Royal House.

Fiane expressed his gratitude to “all members of the team who participated in both the planning and execution of the procedure.”

The Norwegian monarchy has indicated that Crown Prince Haakon will adapt his official agenda to support his wife during this period, emphasizing that he will report again on Mette-Maritt’s health status when she is discharged from hospital.
