The President of Syria in a message to Trump: “We will not enter Lebanon to fight Hezbollah”

A-Shara explained in a radio interview why he does not intend to accept Trump’s proposal: “Syria’s role will be positive” • However, he said that Hezbollah has begun to be perceived as “part of the Iranian case” • Earlier this week, Israeli officials expressed deep concern about such a scenario

Against the background of the proposal of the President of the United States Donald Trump to transfer the treatment of Hezbollah to the hands of Syria, the President of Syria Ahmed al-Shara clarified this evening (Sunday) in an interview with a radio station in the Gulf that he does not intend to comply with the expectation of the American President: “You can rely on Syria in the search for a safe path to a solution, but this does not mean war.”

A-Shara said that the Syrian role would be “absolutely positive” and wished a happy life for their brothers in Lebanon. However, he emphasized that Hezbollah has begun to be perceived by some countries as a factor “in the Iranian case”, and that there is a “very great danger” in this, as he put it.

The Syrian president suggested looking for other solutions for the Shiite population in Lebanon, adding that Syria would fulfill its role through the Lebanese institutions and the Lebanese state.

earlier today, Trump told the “Fox News” network that he is “disappointed that Israel can’t ‘move’ Hezbollah”, and added: “They can’t do anything without blowing up some buildings.”

According to him, he is close to “giving it to Syria”, i.e. allowing the president of Syria, Ahmed al-Shara, to enter southern Lebanon and fight Hezbollah – a proposal that the Syrian president actually rejected. Trump explained that he believes Sharia will “do a more precise job” in dealing with Hezbollah.

Earlier this week we published in the “Main Edition” that Trump’s proposal that Syria “take care” of Hezbollah is very troubling to Israel. An Israeli official who spoke to News 12 said: “It’s like throwing a match into a barrel of explosives, we’ll get Al Qaeda and Erdogan on the northern border.”

This possibility, which Sha’ra Psal rejected in practice, is considered by the security establishment to be the worst case scenario. This is because it is not about Shara alone, but also about Erdogan who stands behind him – while the two leaders have long received extraordinary sympathy from Trump in the White House.

In the meantime, the security establishment is still looking for new solutions to deal with Hezbollah. This evening (Sunday) we published for the first time in the “Main Edition” that Israel is considering allowing the Lebanese army to take control of the Hezbollah tunnel complex in the village of Tabnit in the south of the country. According to sources privy to the details, the possibility has come up in recent days in discussions at the political and military level, and may come up already in the next round of negotiations on Tuesday.
