Media: Iranians leave talks in Switzerland in protest against Trump’s threats

The Tasnim agency, close to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, citing a source in the negotiating team, reported that the Iranian delegation left the talks in Switzerland in protest against Trump’s threats.

Iran’s state-run English-language television channel Press TV reported that the delegation was “assessing what happened” to give “an appropriate response to Trump’s threats.”

At the same time, Barak Ravid, a journalist for Axios, writes: a diplomat who was present at the negotiations claims that the Iranian delegation did not leave Bürgenstock, and negotiations between the United States and Iran are still ongoing.

At the Swiss resort of Bürgenstock on Sunday, June 21, negotiations began between the United States and Iran on the implementation of a memorandum of understanding reached between Washington and Tehran. The meeting will be mediated by Qatar and Pakistan.

Representatives of all four delegations were in the same meeting room. The Iranian delegation refused to be photographed with the Americans.

Shortly before the start of the negotiations, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said that Tehran would never give up its right to enrich uranium and the United States would have to come to terms with this.

Donald Trump reacted to Pezeshkian’s statement by saying that “he should watch his language and come to his senses, otherwise we will take control of his country,” and on the social network Truth Social, the US President wrote that Tehran must immediately stop its “highly paid collaborators” in Lebanon, otherwise the United States will strike Iran again, “like last week, only harder.”

About 80 minutes after the start of the negotiations, it became known that they were suspended “for internal consultations.”
