Head of the IRGC political department: Mojtaba Khamenei authorized negotiations with the United States

Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has authorized negotiations with the United States, Deputy Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps for Political Affairs Yadollah Javani said.

“Initially, Iran rejected the American proposal to start negotiations and continued military action. But then, when the conditions put forward by Iran were accepted, the supreme leader gave instructions to begin negotiations – without concessions on issues of dignity,” he said.

On June 21, the opposition website Iran International quoted the conservative Raja News agency as saying that Iran’s new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei opposed the talks, the first stage of which took place in Pakistan.

According to the publication, Khamenei is dissatisfied with the fact that the Iranian nuclear program was discussed at them, and with the fact that Iranian representatives were unable to achieve the implementation of the conditions put forward by the ayatollahs’ regime.

Let us add that the Tasnim agency associated with the IRGC claims that Iran’s nuclear program was not discussed at the negotiations in Switzerland – they talked about the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, the lifting of sanctions and the situation in Lebanon.
