On vacation in Italy: Girl (4) from Austria drowns in hotel pool

Milano Marittima (Italian) – Terrible tragedy on vacation in Italy! A four-year-old girl drowned in a hotel pool on Saturday. The little girl from Austria had apparently fallen into the pool without supervision. The public prosecutor’s office is now investigating, including against the child’s father.

On Saturday around 2pm two boys from the street saw the pool doors open and went to check. The Swimming pool belongs to a hotel in Milano Marittima on the Ravenna coast. The four-year-old girl was floating in the pool. The boys cried out for help. However, a doctor who was on site was unable to save the child.

Father leaves daughter alone

According to the Italian news agency Ansa, 118 emergency services were on site, including numerous carabinieri. Investigations were quickly started. The girl belonged to a family from Austria living in Italy Vacation made. It turned out that the father (56) was alone with the girl. The two older sisters and the mother were in the room.

The public prosecutor’s office is now investigating the father because he left his little daughter unattended. The family is said to have already traveled back to Austria. The girl’s body is to be autopsied. The parents already have one Organ donation agreed.

The hotel operator is also being investigated on suspicion of negligent homicide. The pool was by the police closed and confiscated as a crime scene.
