Grandma poisons herself, her daughter and four grandchildren

Mechanicville (USA) – For many children, grandma is like a second mom: she bakes apple pies, comforts them and always has time for a round of memories. But in Mechanicville, New York, a grandmother is said to have killed her own family. According to investigators, Amy Steadman (64) is said to have poisoned her daughter, her four grandchildren and then herself.

When the police entered the 64-year-old’s apartment, they found six bodies. The dead had lain there for at least two weeks. The cops made the discovery on June 23rd and have now gone public with information about the case.

Accordingly, the dead are all part of a family. In addition to her grandmother, her daughter Sarah Myers (44) and her four children Harper (13), Hudson (11) and the twins Gavin and Gracelynn Harmon (both 10) died. In the apartment complex, investigators also discovered numerous evidence that the 64-year-old killed her family.

Police found numerous medications at the crime scene

At a press conference, Police Chief William Rabbitt spoke of a “deliberate poisoning” through tons of over-the-counter and prescription medications. Apparently there was also a suicide note. Rabbitt: Also found were “a handwritten note and other evidence that strongly suggests that Amy Steadman was involved in the deaths.”

Possible motive: A Custody dispute with the children’s father, who a judge recently granted 60 days of visitation rights, according to People magazine. Did the grandmother want to prevent her daughter’s children from being taken away? The obituary for her dispenses with any pleasantries. The two-liner simply says: “Amy J. Steadman, 64, died on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. At the request of the family, the funeral service was held intimately Family circle instead of.” Sarah Myers’ obituary is much longer and more loving. The “devoted mother” always looked after her four children “with the greatest devotion and love”.
