Football: Reports: Ter Stegen’s move to Ajax is imminent

The move from goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen to the traditional club Ajax Amsterdam is getting closer. As several Dutch media outlets unanimously report, FC Barcelona and Ajax have agreed on a loan deal.

The final formalities – including the medical check – should be clarified in the coming days. Under German Barça coach Hansi Flick, Ter Stegen no longer has any prospects of a regular place at the top club from Catalonia.

There is no longer any prospects at Barcelona despite the contract until 2028

Ter Stegen had already been loaned out by Barcelona to FC Girona, later relegated from the Spanish first division, in the winter in order to gain match practice for the World Cup. However, the 34-year-old keeper suffered a thigh injury in the second game for Girona, which ultimately meant they were eliminated from the World Cup. The 44-time national player is under contract with Barcelona until 2028.

At Ajax, ter Stegen would be reunited with coach Míchel. The 50-year-old moved from Girona to Amsterdam this summer.
