Bryan Johnson Reveals Autoimmune Gastritis: “My Stomach Is Eating Itself”

He is obsessed with the idea of eternal youth and health – and now suffers from a rare disease himself. US longevity guru Bryan Johnson has revealed on X that he suffers from so-called autoimmune gastritis. This is a chronic disease in which the immune system attacks the stomach lining. The result: the body can no longer absorb important nutrients properly. The risk of stomach tumors is also increased.

Johnson said he had been suffering from low iron levels for eleven years, for which no cause could be found – apparently this could have been an early warning sign of the disease. “My stomach is eating itself,” said the millionaire, summing up his complaints.

“I will try to solve the problem”

According to current research, the disease is considered incurable. Millionaire Johnson and his team now want to research a suitable remedy. As usual, he is ambitious: “I will try to solve the problem.” At the same time, he also criticizes in his X-Post: “What I wasn’t fully aware of until recently: how many options my previous medical supervisors had left unused. The low ferritin value (iron storage value, editor’s note) was always downplayed, but never remedied.”

All of this may be difficult for Johnson to accept: the tech millionaire lives for the idea of eternal youth and is almost delusional (and full-time!) concerned with not aging. He swallows hundreds of pills every dayhas laser surgery, therapy, measurements, does sports, and tweaks his diet. He also resorts to quite idiosyncratic means, giving himself mixtures of freshwater algae, amino acids and cinnamon (to name just three of the ingredients). Even his erections are monitored while he sleeps to provide insight into his health.

Johnson has one goal: He wants to prove to the world that you can slow down the natural aging process, crack the anti-aging algorithm, so to speak. Netflix made a documentary about him (“Don’t Die – The Man Who Wants to Be Immortal”) and millions of people follow him on social media.

He now wants to research a cure for his illness himself. He has the financial means to do so Longevity-Expert, his net worth is estimated at just under $400 million. But the case also shows that no matter how closely you monitor your body, no one has a guarantee that they will stay healthy forever.
