Meloni-Zelensky, the NATO summit meeting

The Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni met today with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyon the margin of NATO summit in Ankara. During the meeting, explains Palazzo Chigi, “Italy’s firm commitment alongside Ukraine and in favor of a path that leads to a just and lasting peace was reiterated”. The Prime Minister also “confirmed the continuation of Italian assistance to the Ukrainian population, with particular attention to interventions aimed at strengthening the resilience of energy infrastructures, hard hit by Russian attacks”.

It was “an important conversation”, Zelensky himself wrote in ‘X’, saying that he had “informed Prime Minister Meloni about the situation in Ukraine”. “Russia does not stop attacking our cities and communities. Today there were ballistic missile attacks again and attack drones were also launched. Unfortunately, there were casualties in Kiev, Kharkiv and Kherson. Russia took the lives of five people,” the Ukrainian president wrote in the post.

With Meloni, explains Zelensky, “we discussed the prospects of our collaboration in Europe on anti-missile capabilities to provide greater protection to everyone, both to Ukraine and to all other countries. We talked about the need for additional interceptors and we count a lot on your support. Italy has always contributed in an ethical way to protecting life. Thank you!”.
