Araqchi admitted that a security breach led to Khamenei’s assassination

The head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry said that on the morning of the start of the war he was in the complex of the residence of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Around 08:00, he met with the Iranian President and warned him that the situation resembled preparations for war. Later, Araqchi arrived at Khamenei’s chief of staff, Ali Asghar Hijazi, to deliver a report on the negotiations.

According to the minister, the complex was hit while he was discussing the tense military situation with Hijazi. Araqchi stressed that it was not unusual for Iranian leadership to hold meetings in those days, but Israel’s knowledge of their time and place indicates an ongoing security failure.
