The risk rating agency Moody’s Investidor Service, one of the three main ones in the world, raised Argentina’s credit rating this Tuesday (21), justifying that the current numbers achieved by the country signal better governance.
This is the third risk rating agency to increase the rating of Argentina’s sovereign bonds since the economic changes implemented by Javier Milei’s government.
Argentina’s country risk fell below 500 points, approaching 402 points a week ago. This Tuesday, it rose four points, to 420 points, before Moody’s decision, which improved the country’s outlook from Stable to Positive.
“This reflects our view that Argentina’s credit profile could strengthen further as structural improvements in external finances combine with ongoing macroeconomic stabilization,” the rating agency explained.
The announcement was a cause for celebration for the Milei government. “With this decision, the three main risk rating agencies (Moody’s, S&P and Fitch) are aligned at B- for the first time in more than a decade,” said José Luis Daza, deputy minister of Economy.
President Javier Milei, in turn, released the news with a message in which he used the expression “TMAP”, a reference to his slogan “everything is going according to plan”.
