CNBC: Houthis have prepared missiles and drones to attack ships in the Red Sea

Yemen’s Houthis have completed preparations to resume attacks on merchant ships passing through the southern Red Sea. This was reported by CNBC with reference to the bulletin of the Joint Maritime Information Center JMIC, based in Bahrain.

The document cites information from sources close to the Houthis, according to which the group has deployed missiles and drones in the area of the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, one of the most important routes for international shipping. However, JMIC does not claim that it was able to independently confirm this information.

The center said there had been no confirmed attacks on merchant ships in the previous 48 hours, and there were no immediate signs of a major attack imminent. The threat level in the area of the southern Red Sea and Bab al-Mandeb was assessed as moderate, but the risk for ships associated with Saudi Arabia was described as elevated.
