Until: "Rome, capital of peace with the countries of the global alliance for the two-state solution”

“There are dozens of countries participating in these two days of work of the global Alliance for a two-state solution”. Added to this are “the talks between the Lebanese and the Israelis”. This “demonstrates how much Rome is becoming the capital of peace”.

This was stated by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, in a press point at the Farnesina, on the second day of the meeting of the Global Alliance for a two-state solution, underlining how “Italy is central in the phase in which dialogue needs to be strengthened and plays an important diplomatic role in building peace in the entire Middle East”.

The position of the Italian State on the recognition of Palestine

“Italy is in favor of recognizing a Palestinian state, but there must be one first. We are working towards that, but as long as there is Hamas which is armed, what do we recognize?”. Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani explained.

“We are working so that there can be not a demagogic and fictitious recognition, but a Palestinian state that can truly live in peace with Israel, that recognizes Israel’s right to exist and that is recognized by Israel”.

Italy’s availability for an international mission to Hormuz

“We are willing, if an agreement is reached that guarantees peace and in any case a ceasefire in the Strait of Hormuz, to participate in an international mission to guarantee freedom of navigation”. Minister Tajani added to the Farnesina, reiterating that Italy will continue to “do its part to guarantee the freedom of maritime traffic in that area with the Aspides and Atalanta missions”.
