US transfers support command for Ukraine to NATO

The Pentagon has confirmed that it will gradually transfer leadership of the Security Assistance Group to Ukraine (SAG-U) to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

The strategic military command has the function of coordinating the shipment of weapons, logistical support and training to Kiev’s forces in the war against the Russian invasion.

The information was published by the news portal Politico in the USA and confirmed by the Turkish news agency Anadolu.

The structure was created in 2022 by the United States government under the leadership of President Donald Trump to coordinate the sending of aid and ensure intelligence coordination between Western allies.

The measure aims to give greater operational autonomy and responsibility to European countries in financing and supporting territorial defense Ukrainian.

The group has the cooperation and participation of more than 30 nations. The initiative was originally designed to structure support mechanisms outside the direct institutional umbrella of the Atlantic alliance, preventing the organization from being formally framed as a direct participant in the armed confrontation with Russia. The North American intention is to gradually transfer command to officers from NATO allied countries, in a move that redistributes the costs of European security and strengthens the role of the bloc’s countries in containing territorial aggression promoted by the Moscow regime.
