Hamburg: Masked men attack residents in Billwerder

Hamburg – A stylish house in Hamburg’s Billwerder district, the hedge around the property neatly trimmed, pots of fresh flowers hanging by the front door. When two young women rang the doorbell on Sunday evening around 7:30 p.m., the residents had no idea that a criminal gang had chosen the house for a brutal robbery!

An 83-year-old woman unsuspectingly opened the door to the two strangers. Suddenly, several masked men pushed the woman aside and stormed into the house, searching the building for valuables.

Major operation! Heavily armed police officers arrived and searched for the robbers.

Masked men threaten residents

Upstairs, the intruders encountered a completely surprised 51-year-old man. According to police, the attackers threatened the resident with a bladed weapon. What exactly happened next inside the house is still unclear. One thing is certain: The 51-year-old man was seriously injured, and the attackers fled with their loot. Paramedics and emergency physicians attended to the victim. The man, bleeding heavily, was taken to a hospital in Hamburg. The elderly woman was unharmed.

Search with dogs and helicopter continues

A major police operation was launched following the robbery. Heavily armed officers arrived at the scene. More than a dozen patrol cars and a helicopter from the Federal Police are searching for the suspects. Investigators with sniffer dogs are also involved. In response to a BILD inquiry on Monday afternoon, the police stated that the search had so far been unsuccessful. Initially, the Criminal Investigation Department was investigating; now the Robbery Unit has taken over.
