Patriotism is the fight against ecocide in Gospić, not against migrants, Serbs, gays and women

A quarter of a century ago, patriots from Lika, led by then HDZ member Darko Milinović, chained themselves in Gospić as a sign of protest against the Hague Tribunal and support for the accused war criminal and then fugitive from Croatian justice, Mirko Norac.
Mass protests, not only those in Gospić, served to overthrow the SDP coalition government at the time, under the slogan of protecting the dignity of veterans and the Homeland War.

Today, those chains are gone. Those patriots are gone.

And Milinović, as the current mayor of Gospić, is accused of downplaying, relativizing and misinterpreting the official expert report on ecocide and groundwater pollution by hazardous waste in Gospić. The one who used to prove his patriotism by defending war criminals is now avoiding demonstrating his patriotism in the case of the unprecedented ecological disaster in Gospić.

Patriots are simply not interested in this aspect of patriotism.

Love for the homeland

Although this is precisely what it is, the protection of the environment, land, water, air, human life, groundwater, plant and animal life, can be considered the ultimate manifestation of love for the homeland.

Not an abstract platitude about patriotism that serves as a cover for crimes, corruption, repression, racism, chauvinism, misogyny and crime, but more. a concrete expression of love for the area in which one lives, grows up, survives and is left to future generations.

For example, the HDZ in Zagreb is waging a war against Možemo precisely on the question of waste! and Tomislav Tomaševi, underlined by the ideological manipulation of patriotism, flags and symbols, but that is why he is persistently silent about the ecocide in Gospi. In the city and county that were loyal to the HDZ until their death.

And Gospić has thus, together with other hazardous waste landfills in Croatia, and mainly in HDZ counties, become a testing ground for demonstrating patriotism, where self-proclaimed protectors of patriotism have cowardly capitulated one after another.

The homeland movement could and should use this to overthrow the government and call for early elections.

Zlatko Dalia could call out those who “do not love and do not want Croatia”, because there is no better reason for that than this.

Take over Croatia

Marko Perkovi Thompson released drones with crosses, Our Lady and the flag, shouted ZDS and called on young people to “take over Croatia”, but he did not use the opportunity to call on these same young right-wingers, with Ustasha T-shirts and Croatian flags fashionably wrapped around their buttocks, to protect the environment and human health. The ideology of “blood and soil” obviously does not apply to the protection of soil, water, air and blood.

The marchers for life harass society with their parades in defense of unborn children, but they did not take the opportunity to march for real life in Gospić, where all children are at risk, even the unborn ones. In a city where people are literally fighting for their lives, no one walks for their lives.

Where are the blackshirts and football hooligans today who like to attack Serbs, leftists, migrants, foreigners, but not those who literally poison Croatia. Fan groups can be proud of their humanitarian work, but they did not march in Gospić. Nor were there banners for Gospić unfurled in the football stands.

Torcida did mention water this Sunday, but not the polluted Gospić water, but the water that “was released for 84 hours in Knin / shit floated on tractors in Šid”.

Why aren’t they washing away the shit in Gospić?

Where are the defenders

Where are the defenders today who impose themselves on every social issue, pose as moral arbiter and socio-political actor, pitch tents and threaten armed rebellion? Why aren’t they defending Croatia in Gospić now?

Why isn’t Defense Minister Ivan Anušić pushing into Gospić today to promote the “values ​​of Christian Europe” there? Don’t they include protection from ecological disaster?

And why don’t Croatian bishops write epistles about the ecological disaster in Lika, just as they eagerly send instructions to voters about who they should vote for?

And of course, HDZ bots on the internet are neatly silent about Gospić, as are all the right-wing instigators who heroically hide behind their keyboards to defend Croatia from migrants, Nepalis, blacks, Muslims, gays, transgender people, leftists and liberals, globalists and elitists, and even from women, but they wouldn’t defend Croatia from those who are literally destroying it.
