Offensive player Marten Winkler is leaving Hertha BSC and moving to RSC Anderlecht. In the 4-1 home win against 1. FC Heidenheim last weekend, the 23-year-old played well with two assists and a goal. Now he is playing for the Belgian record champions with immediate effect, as the second division soccer team announced.
Winkler signed a four-year contract in Anderlecht and will then also play internationally. Because Anderlecht is in the playoffs for the Europa League and will therefore start at least in the league phase of the Conference League.
“Marten is a child of our academy. Especially after his strong start to the season, we are letting him go with a very heavy heart from a sporting perspective, but Matte wanted to seize the opportunity and challenge in Belgium. Given the economic framework of the transfer and the remaining term of his contract, we complied with his wish,” said sports director Benjamin Weber. Winkler’s contract with the capital club would have expired next summer.
